Yes I know it is crazy!! Though it is so true and when I heard the reason why I immediately got it, and understood why I wasn’t getting the success I was after.
In this Episode 72, I am sharing the reasons why it is best and smart to market yourself rather than the company you sell products for.

Your business is a long term solution for your life and the lifestyle that you want to create for yourself.
So for long-term business, we have to think of a long-term sustainable evergreen strategy. Now let me be more specific in the following point, bottom line you’ve got to always ask yourself if what you are doing today can still serve you in the next years should you keep the same business.
Smart Marketing – It’s Personal
Like we said previously, the business you are building is for you and for the lifestyle you want to live. Which means it is personal, right.
Now, what I actually mean by “personal” is the fact that you want people to know you more than you want them to know the company or product you represent, the main reason being that people buy into people, not businesses.
Smart Marketing – Changing company
The reality is that most of us ten to change network marketing company several times before finding the one that fits them, and that’s perfectly fine, I did it!
However, that means each time you change the company you need to rebuild trust towards a new product a new company name, and credibility in the eyes of your prospects.
Whereas if you brand yourself, what’s going on in the backend is not a problem and does not need to explain or justify to anybody.
Smart Marketing – Keeps you focus
Some people also represent more than one company at the same time, which I don’t necessarily recommend, but if it is your case then which one do we talk about?
There is no way you can talk about all of them on your social media without creating total confusion in your prospects’ mind. You might get the odd sale here and there, if anything, but never will you be able to build something substancial.
Branding yourself is a smart marketing because it also keeps you focus the entire time.
Smart Marketing – Reliability
As previously said, people buy into people thus branding yourself and knowing your ideal audience makes your prospects relate to you, build the “Know, Like, Trust” factor, and build bond much faster, therefore turn into customers or teammates more easily.
Smart Marketing – Company Shuts Down
This is a story that goes around, about some distributors who some morning, after having build successful business or not wake up to a vanished company and see their income vanish with it.
This is already a terrible and awful story in itself, but imagine having to tell people publicly why you are now mentioning the name of a new company all over your social media and that you “left” the previous one… Not a pretty image, isn’t it?
Of course there is nothing wrong about telling people who might know you on a private basis, but surely you would not have a good time having to justify yourself all the freaking time, hey!?
Smart Marketing – Conclusion
Branding yourself versus any company you might be representing, even if you are with them for decades, will be much more powerful for you, your future, and your credibility in the long run.
Remember that the company you are part of and sell the product for is not your business, you are a representative, a consultant, a marketer, or whatever name they attribute you, but you are not the owner on the contract you sign.
