Marketing Tips – Let’s be honest
A misconception that some people have is that running a business online, creating an online presence, is easy and does not require much to do.
Actually, I can confirm that it takes work to do it right. Is it easier than doing things in person? Yet, it requires a lot of work, even though it is fun. So be ready to learn a lot if you decide to go down that route to build your business.
The 2 main ways that will be covered in this episode are Social Media and Email Marketing.
Let’s chat about them individually.
Marketing Tips – Social Media
As said above, building an online business, or a presence online, definitely takes work. It surely is not just one post saying “I’m open for business” that is going to blow everything up, and get you financially independent. #SorryNotSorry
It takes way more than a post to make it work for yourself. Here are some tips to go in the right direction with your social media strategy:
- Posting value posts that speak to (not at) your audience
- Be relatable and Authentic
- Keep on top of the trend
- Keep on top of the new features that come up, from whichever platform you use
- Most important, be CONSISTENT
And beyond everything, keep in mind that you will face challenges, and times where you feel it is not working. This is when being consistent and focused on your end goal is necessary.
Marketing Tips – Email Marketing
As fun and useful social media is, the real truth is that you do not have full control of your account. What I mean is that the platform you use can shut your account any moment, which makes you lose all your hard work in a heart beat. Also, you might be censored in certain things you can share on your social media, ie. FB personal profile aren’t allowed to be used for business as per the platform’s T&C. Did you know?
On the other hand, this is where email marketing is super exciting because you are in complete charge of how you use it, the way you communicate with your subscribers, how often you want to communicate with them, and no-one is going to shut it down. It is yours, unlike social media!
Of course, there is a whole mechanism behind this strategy for it to be working to your advantage, which requires some learnings also, yet it is so worth it and combined with social media it positions you very strongly in your field.
Marketing Tips – Conclusion
Be in charge of your processes and tools as much as you can, and definitely remain consistent in showing up in front of your audience’s eyeballs.
