When applying these Fundamentals, your audience will look up to you for anything!!!

Self Motivation – Why Do We loose It

We all struggle with motivation. No matter what age, what background, what ethnicity, what gender, what level of success… self-motivation is something that we all have to deal with daily.

There are some days and weeks where we naturally doubts about our capabilities in doing or achieving what we are creating, because the end results seems far away and thus not so tangible.
The mind then starts projecting some limiting beliefs that have been build over the months and years which creates some blockages.
In turn, the natural thought of “why things are not moving as fast for me as it is for others” appears.

Let’s now dive into the 5 elements that will help you get your motivation back even in the darkest moments.

1- Self-Motivation – Comparison

This motivation business is an element that everyone has to overcome the best we can. You might think that the successful people have it all sorted and they never have to deal with self-motivation ever again whereas in fact they do. The reason for it is that humans always want more once they achieved something.

Whatever level of success you are at and whichever industry you are in, it important not to compare yourself with any body else.

But first let me tell you that I have compared myself to other for many years and it didn’t help me get to where I wanted to be. In fact, it was actually slowing me down rather than supporting my goals and vision. Really, the “Comparitis” mindset will not serve you well.

Comparing yourself to other is useless because their story might not be relatable to your’s. You might be in the chapter 2 of your own story whereas the person you compare yourself to might be in chapter 100 of their own story. For example, if you are comparing your life with no kids to a family of five 5 kids, then the journey will definitely be massively different although you are perhaps building the same type of business.
The only thought it will generate if you are comparing other’s “success” to your journey is trying to find “what is wrong with me”!

Plus there are no “overnight” success. Expect in Wonder Woman (The movie) 🙂

You are where you are suppose to be right now and this place will take you where you are suppose to get to in the near and far future. So just enjoy the journey and focus on you.

2- Self-Motivation – Search Internally

Have you ever heard of the “Shiny Object Syndrome”?

I used to suffer from it BIG time 🙂
Basically, this is when one is always jumping from one strategy to another, one opportunity to another, one tool to another, even, perhaps, from one partner/husband/wife to another haha. You get what I mean, right?

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in staying up to date with technology, strategies and formulas but at the end of the day trends change all the time whereas principles remain.

Therefore, the main principle to focus on is inner motivation rather than external inspiration. You can get inspired by any and everything from the out world (books, audios, blog posts, conferences, people…) but the one and only element that will carry you in the long run is to find your inner strength.

By all means, use external inspirational tools but think it this way: What is it, internally, that will get you out of the house when it is rainy and gloomy.
Only YOU know the answer.

3- Self-Motivation – Full Responsibility

Essentially Motivation comes from self and it is up to ourselves to ignite the fire inside our mind and body to move forward. It is up to us to take the internal and external actions to get our mind and body in alignment together. So, it is really is important, before anything else, to take responsibility for what happens or doesn’t happen for us in our lives.

Most of the time, the reason why we don’t feel inspired or motivated is because we don’t know where we are heading. It is fuzzy, unclear, foggy, confusing…

So if you are experiencing, or when you are experiencing the feeling of lack of motivation then just make the choice to take action to change the vibration of your own personal energy and view point. This might be just by starting knowing what are your goals.

Interestingly enough, this is the next point I am going to share with you. How to define your goals. See how all these principle segue nicely into one another 😉

4 – Self-Motivation – Goals and Vision

I came to learn that in life we have two choices (among many others):

  1. Set goals, be focus and create your own reality
  2. Let yourself get pushed by life

So my question to you is, which of the two do you find more attractive and appealing. Personally having some sort of control of my own destiny sounds much more fun and predictable than just moving forward blindly.

If you are like me and prefers the first idea then you will understand that it is in your benefit to figure out your goals as well as have a vision. Wondering wha the difference is? I used to…

Goals are great to motivate you in the short, medium and long run but vision is essential to carry you for eternity.

For example your goals could be:

  • End of the month money in your bank account
  • Rank advancement in your company
  • Number of enrolment

To create your goals, ask yourself “what am I creating or launching?”. Be specific and have a deadline. As much as i don’t necessarily enjoy this, it is true that we, humans, tend to work best under pressure. So set yourself a deadline and review closer to it if not yet achieved your goal.

To create your vision you might want to ask yourself “Where do I want myself and my business to go?”

  • Be on speaking on stage
  • Write a book
  • Live in different countries
  • Write for business magazines
  • Build a charity

If you happen to have difficulties with this part and find your mind completely foggy and blurry then ask yourself the following further question:

  1. What type of impact do I want to leave on this earth?
  2. If money and time was not an issue and that i knew I couldn’t fail (which you can, by the way describe as First Attempt In Learning) what is it I’d be doing?

Then create a vision board, especially if you are a visual person that likes to see things…
Once your goals and vision are down on paper, the best way to go about it is to reverse engineer to create your tasks in order to make your goals come true.

5 – Self-Motivation – Accountability

In my personal experience I realised that, yes it is definitely crucial to have self accountability but, it is much easier to also be accountable to someone else for extra self push.

Accountability partners can come many shapes and forms. The interesting part is that the accountability partners are not necessarily needed to in the known. Let me explain… First here are some examples of whom you can make yourself accountable:

  • Your Partner/Husband/Wife/Children
  • Your boss
  • Your business partners
  • A coach
  • Your upline
  • Your team
  • Your online audience

For example I started creating content for my audience and go on FB live every week making my audience aware that each and every week you have a brand new episode with a free resource plus FB live time together.
So, indirectly and deliberately, I put myself in a situation that I MUST be ready every week with new content that serve my audience. All this without them being aware that they are my accountability system too.

If you want to take it up a notch then you are best letting the people you know that they are part of your accountability system. This is what I did with my audience after a while.

When you think about it, all highly successful athletes and business people have coaches themselves. Even Coaches have coaches. Because at the end of the day we can always find someone more skilled than ourselves to take us to the next level.

Self-Motivation – Conclusion

Here are the 5 principles that, no matter what you are going for in life, need to be part of your journey:

  1. Compare yourself to yourself only so you don’t get affected by the “comparitis” effect.
  2. Search your self-motivation internally rather than externally. What is external is only inspiration which is good for short term but inner motivation is what will sustain you.
  3. Take full responsibility of who you are and what you want. Only you are in control of your reality creation.
  4. Know your goals and vision then work backwards to make the process much easier and more enjoyable.
  5. Have a direct or indirect accountability partner and system in place to take you from where you are to where you want to be faster.

The bottom line is to get to know how bad you want what you want and how committed you are to make it happen for yourself!

Finally, remember that success is not a destination but an ongoing journey as you always will want to achieve and acquire more in life. therefore these motivation business feeling will always be present. Just acknowledge your feelings but do not care much about the self limiting feeling/beliefs.
