If you are trying to find new clients or teammates on social media, and get close to no results, it might most likely be that you are making one of these 3 huge mistakes on Facebook that are stopping you get the results you want.
In all honesty I have made these exact mistakes at some point, but after amending it all, the results started reversing nicely.

This is extremely important to learn if you want to have better conversation, and convert them quicker into sales too.
The most important is actually not to focus on the sale itself, but on the rapport building with your potential customer, or teammate.
Communication Skills – Mistake #1
Something that I have done, and see people do still now, meaning that some are still teaching this technique, which is to share your link of your website, page or whatever you have to show your business, products, services, or opportunity.
This is killing your relationship as you are repelling people to go any further, since they feel sold.
The way to share your link(s) in an elegant way, is by asking permission to people. Do not assume that because you are having a conversation with them, that you can shove your stuff without their will.
Ask them if they are open to take a look, or consider further and if, only if, they say “yes” then share whatever you have to show off. Once they’ve said “yes” to this, it is easier to go into deeper meaningful conversations about what you have, as THEY asked for more.
Communication Skills – Mistake #2
A common mistake that is appearing a lot, is people putting any, and everything on their Facebook profile but themselves.
ie: Their photo profile would be of their dog, kids, husband/wife…
As sweet as it is to showcase your family, dogs, and all sorts, it is not on your profile picture that it must be featured. Once I was talking to someone who had a name which is equally masculine and feminine, and the person had a their profile picture with their other significant… turned out I was using my a more masculine verbage, when actually it was her behind the screen instead… Awkward!
Here are 4 tips to help you rectify this on your Facebook profile:
- Have a picture of YOU as a profile, so people know you are real
- Used the cover photo to show lifestyle or your artwork (here you can include your kids, husband/wife, animals…). Do not use quotes, or photo of your product or company neither.
- Create value based post on your timeline. Do not post the name of your company or product.
- Carefully select the photo gallery that shows your story to your audience
Communication Skills – Mistake #3
We all get excited about whatever we have to offer the world, yet it will NEVER create you a healthy business to SPAM people in the long run!
If you have something you love, please do not share your links everywhere on your social media, as you are harming yourself, your business, and people will avoid you, big time.
Same in private conversation… Build rapport first, be interested rather than interesting by giving value, then offer when the time is right by asking if they are open to take a look.
The best way to go about it on your timeline, is by sharing value post, and stories that incite people to want to know further details.
Communication Skills – Conclusion
Make sure that your profile is visually appealing, interesting with valuable content, and with NO SPAM type of post.
Be YOU, and build the Know, Like, Trust factor with your audience before selling them anything. Human first, Marketer Second.
