It is Inevitable

You probably heard it all before but it is always good to hear things several times, in different ways, and from different people sometimes too.

It takes 8 to 12 exposure for most people to accept to just take a look at your opportunity and products. Yes your ratio might get better over time, but only if you practice regularly (in my world it is daily) and that you keep being consistent.

It is really true that the fortune is in the followup, and I would go even further saying that the fortune is in the discipline!

Be accountable

The most annoying thing is when someone is wasting someone else’s time, would you agree?

Therefore, it is very important to make sure you are following up with the person whenever you said you would.
This will also build up a trust and some credibility in the other person’s mind, whether being a prospect, client, or teammate.

The fortune is in the follow up but…

Consistency is everything in follow up and truly is the key to rip the effort you are putting into your business. It is easier to follow up regularly than having to start all over again because of stoping and starting.

Having said that, following up does not, and should not have to always be about asking if they are ready to join or buy from you.
Make sure that you are a human first and a marketer second.

The way you do this is by genuinely interacting on people’s posts, wishing them happy birthday, and keeping in touch like you would do with any of your friends.

keep note and track

When you are in business you cannot avoid but having a lot of conversations to the point of not humanly being able to remember every single things that were said in each interaction you’ve had.

To avoid some ackwardness when meeting next with your prospects, clients, or teammates, make sure you to keep a log of what was said in the last conversation.

Also, I do keep a section in my log that is specifically reserved for the “permanent” or “long(er) term” time: ie. is part of x company, is a hairdresser, son’s name is…, will get married in x date, etc

It is not about you

Something that took me a very long time to understand and come to good terms with is the fact that the outcome has nothing to do with me.

Whether someone says “yes” or “no” it is up to them and I have no control over this. The only thing I have control over if I want more “YESs” is by talking to more people.

The more you connect, the more you convert!

My big advise here is to take yourself and your emotions out of the outcome equation. Easier said than done, but the way you can avoid focusing on the negative is truly by being in ACTION

Follow up Strategies – Conclusion

However hard and bad you think it is, I can promise you that it becomes easier and easier as you go along and if you practice following up daily. It even becomes fun since you start finding your feet into all this and receiving much more “YESs” by default.
